Nga mihi ki a koutou katoa! I love leading Taradale Intermediate School which is the largest intermediate school in Hawke’s Bay, offering a curriculum of discovery for our 600 fantastic students.  I have been a teacher for over 40 years, over 30 as a school principal. I love the diversity of my role - the education of our students, the relationship with our community, the management of the staff, developing the school property and managing the school's finances. I am passionate about leading our school to becoming the best it can be.  Our curriculum will provide an educational framework based upon what is currently known about how students learn and draws on best practice of schools worldwide.

Our talented teaching team and I are committed to doing the very best we can for each and every student at Taradale Intermediate School. I hope you enjoy exploring our website. Discover something new!

I've spent most of my teaching career, teaching at intermediate level so YES I definitely have a passion for this age group. The challenges and rewards they bring add up to an amazing journey over the 2 years the students are with us. My passions in education lie in the fields of maths, inquiry and digital technologies - providing students with the attributes to thrive in the changing world they are growing up in.  It is great being part of a dynamic school that sees teaching and learning as a collaborative partnership between the learner, the teacher, the family and the wider community.

I joined the TIS team at the beginning of 2014 and look forward to another exciting and full year. I am passionate about encouraging creative and inquisitive minds to look at issues in different ways, using technology to enhance the learning experience and providing learning pathways that reflect the needs of each student. I look forward to contributing to the TIS community and getting to know the students and their whānau.  Part of my role at TIS is the special needs co-ordinator. It is my privilege to work closely with some of our students and their families to provide the best possible support we can.
