2025 Elections

In 2025 we will be holding our Board of Trustees Elections.

For brief overview on what the Board does, check out the "Get on Board Video".

For more information, you can visit the School Board Elections Website.

The timeline for elections is included below

Alison Donovan - Presiding Member

Kia ora - I am Alison, a mum of 3 tamariki, 2 of whom had a great time at TIS, and one who is currently in year 7.
I have been a member of the TIS Board of Trustees since 2022, and have served as Presiding Member since February 2024. I enjoy giving back to a school that has provided (and still provides) so much for my whānau. It's a great way to gain a deeper understanding of how a school functions and to contribute to ensuring TIS operates effectively, both now and for ākonga in the future.  I have a background in business, people and financial management, so being on the Board allows me to use all of my skills in a different way to what I do in my paid employment.
Aside from the Board, I am the General Manager at Willis Legal, and love walking up Sugar Loaf and supporting my kids play sport.

Sammie-jo Smaling

Kia ora, I’m Sammie-jo—a proud mum of two and caregiver/aunty to four more. Two of my children have already journeyed through TIS, one is currently in Year 7, and I have got three more on the way. Our family’s connection to Taradale schools runs deep, and it’s given me a strong appreciation for the value of collaboration across all levels of education.
I’m an enthusiastic planner who thrives on bringing structure and heart to everyday challenges—whether it’s organising our busy household, supporting local initiatives, or championing inclusive experiences for tamariki with different needs. My ongoing involvement in early childhood, primary, intermediate and Highschool education has shown me the powerful impact that unity and shared vision can have across our learning community.
When I'm not busy chauffeuring my children between all of their after school and weekend activities, i have recently joined the squash gym and hope to spend some time there learning the sport.

Louise Gray - Staff Representative

Kia ora, my name is Louise Gray. I teach in Room 13 and am team leader of Tākitimu whanaukura.  This is my 12th year at Taradale Intermediate.

I have 2 children who both attended TIS - Olivia, 23, and Campbell, 22 years. My husband Dave is a firefighter.
My teaching passions are Maths, Health, PE and EOTC.  My interests out of school are all sports, reading, dog walking and spending time with my family.

I have been staff representative on the BOT for the last 6 years and will be stepping down at the next election.

Jamie Stockan

I'm Jamie Stockan, and it's a privilege to serve on the Taradale Intermediate Board of Trustees.

As a parent with a long-term commitment to our local schools, I currently have a child at the Intermediate, a teenager at Napier Girls' High School, and a younger child who will be joining us in the future. This gives me a vested interest in the success and well-being of our students at every stage of their education.

My professional background in the construction and related industries provides me with valuable skills in project management, budgeting, and property maintenance. I am dedicated to using this expertise to help the board with asset management, ensuring our school facilities are safe, well-maintained, and prepared for the future.

I am committed to working with our community, staff, and fellow trustees to ensure Taradale Intermediate remains a high-achieving and supportive environment for all students.
