General Information

Hi there. I'm the Chairperson for the Taradale Intermediate Board of Trusties having come from the Bledisloe School PTA where I have been involved for over 6 years and was chairperson for two. Moving on as my two boys finish at primary school and come through to Intermediate I enjoy being able to give something back to the community. I work in tendering, project management, IT, and am a freelance photographer covering breaking news and sport around Hawkes Bay. When not busy with all that I am a member of the Taradale Volunteer Fire Brigade.

General Information

Hi there my name is Warwick Thomas and I am very proud to be a member of (and the ex chair of) The Taradale Intermediate School BOT. That sense of pride is not due to any false ego or high ideals but simply because it means that I am involved with a school and staff who do care and do want to make a difference. My background includes many years in the NZ Army, some years as a solo parent and more recently the father of 2 daughters (part of a ”blended family”) that have had the best possible introduction to their teenage educational years.
I now work at TUMU ITM Building Centre at Havelock North and I often find that the business of TUMU is closely aligned to the business of TIS i.e. positive encouragement, honest appreciation and feedback acknowledging a job well done and most importantly a desire to achieve more and push ourselves. I was a student at TIS during 1970 and 71 and the school that I see today is such a different and improved version of what was already a great school From the youngest student to the most seasoned teacher, everywhere I look I see adults and children “seeking to achieve”
For many kids this age group is particularly challenging and I enjoy being part of the support network that makes the transition from Primary school to High School, easy informative and worthwhile. What are the chances of getting 25 teaching staff, 14 support staff and 3 senior staff combined with 480 plus students to all aim for the same high standards and all expect themselves and others to achieve those ideals? Come and visit the school, see your child learning and have a look at our future, it makes me feel very confident about the leaders of future generations.

General Information

This is my first term on the BOT for TIS, however I did a term on the BOT for a primary school in Hastings.
Our family moved to Puketapu a year ago and our youngest son attends TIS. My working background includes risk and compliance management. As our society changes our children still need a balance between education, sport and social interaction and from our experience TIS provides this. I would like to see it continue.
